ARE INJURED WORKERS ALLOWED TO TAKE VACATION WHILE RECEIVING WORKERS’ COMPENSATION BENEFITS?

Answer: Absolutely!!

This is the time of the year that many people plan vacations for the holidays to spend time with their families. We receive numerous calls every year inquiring: If I am on Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation can I go on vacation? There is no reason why an injured worker cannot go on vacation. The injured worker must only take into account his/her doctor’s restrictions. As long as the injured worker abides by the doctor’s restrictions, there is nothing wrong with going on vacation. The Injured worker may not be able to do the same mountain climbing or other physical activities that he/she has done in the past. However, there are many great vacations that individuals can take with a work injury. Remember, the individual only suffered a work injury and is restricted from his/her time of injury job and is not bed ridden. Injured workers, like everyone else, should enjoy themselves to the best of their ability. Injured workers deserve vacations too.
